General Assembly fourth committee
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is the core representative organ of the UN. Comprising 193 Member States, the General Assembly performs the key policymaking role within the UN. The principle of ‘one country, one vote’ is key to the UNGA’s ability to serve as a truly international body, providing Member States from Tuvalu to the United States a forum to work towards the maintenance of international peace and security, international development, and the advancement of humankind.
UBCMUN’s Security Council is the flagship committee of our conference. In this committee delegates are expected to discuss pressing international issues that need immediate action.
UN Commission on Population and Development
As part of the Economics and Social Council, the UN Commission on Population and Development (UNCPD) is responsible for addressing population issues and trends, as well as integrating population and development strategies.
Arab League is the special regional council for UBCMUN’s conference this year. With 22 Member States from the Middle East and Africa, Arab League aims to strengthen ties and coordinate policies between the different countries.
International Press Corps
The International Press Corps (IPC) is one of the most challenging and engaging bodies represented at UBCMUN. Delegates belonging to this committee will be responsible for moving through committees, keeping close watch on any controversial or otherwise noteworthy news, and creating informative articles for the benefit of all relevant stakeholders.
